Dean Randall S. Lambrecht Dr. Randall S. Lambrecht, Dean & Professor
The College of Health Sciences at The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Dr. Randall S. Lambrecht earned his doctorate in philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also holds a Master of Science degree from the Department of Preventive Medicine in infectious disease epidemiology, and an undergraduate degree in medical technology from UW-Madison. Prior to coming to UW-Milwaukee (1988) as an assistant professor in the Department of Health Sciences, Dr. Lambrecht taught in the UW Medical School. He served as Graduate Program Coordinator and Director of the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program, Chair of the Faculty Steering Committee and in a number of other administrative positions before being appointed Dean of the College of Health Sciences in 1999.

Dr. Lambrecht's expertise and research interests bacteriology and infectious disease are nationally and internationally recognized. As principal investigator, he has obtained funds from the National Institutes of Health, USDA, HRSA, and other federal, state and private sources. He has authored over 60 publications and is the holder of two provisional patents/licenses for molecular diagnostic assays. His work has been presented in research conferences in England, Australia, Turkey and France. Dr. Lambrecht is certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and has served on various journal editorial boards and professional and community boards. He is currently the Chair of the Executive Committee for The Center for Urban Population Health, and the Board of Directors for Partnerships for Healthy Milwaukee, as well as having been elected President of the [National] College of Health Deans for 2002-05, and was appointed by the State Insurance Commissioner to the Medical College of WisconsinÕs Board of Trustees to the Community Health Oversight and Advisory Committee for the Blue Cross/Shield conversion funds. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Milwaukee International Health Training Center and is on the Board of Directors for The Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions (ASAHP).

As an educator Dr. Lambrecht teaches undergraduates and graduate courses in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. He has received a number of teaching awards and has served as a major advisor for over 24 graduate students from seven different countries.


The UWM College of Health Sciences offers the largest number of health-related undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Wisconsin and is among the largest College of health-related programs in the nation. The College serves over 1150 students, and consists of over 100 faculty and staff who are innovative educators, researchers and scholars.
