Doctor of Philosophy: Online Option

The Online PhD option offers the same high-quality curriculum and excellent faculty as the On-Campus option. Although this option is nearly identical to the on-campus format, there are minor differences. Students are admitted to the online option as a cohort and must progress consistent with the scheduled course offerings. Online courses are offered every two years and must be taken in sequence. These courses are identical to those in the on-campus option and usually are taught by the same faculty. However, they may be offered in a different sequence.

Admission: Summer, odd years (2009, 2011, 2013)

Online: Program Structure and Course Progression

Courses will be offered based on a semester calendar beginning each May/June, January, and September. Courses will be offered in a sequence that will allow students to complete all required courses in two and one half years including the summer.

Online: Student Requirements

Students who commit to the online program are expected to take two courses each semester including summers. All students are required to attend an intensive, one-week, on-campus session held at the beginning of the program. They also must attend an intensive on-campus, six-week session the summer in which they complete course work.
