John Boecker, AIA, currently serves as a Partner for 7group, a green building consulting firm. He has concentrated his architectural practice exclusively on designing High Performance Green Buildings since 1997. He has practiced architecture in New Haven, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles. In 1999, Mr. Boecker joined a team of six other professionals to create 7group, a multi-disciplinary consulting group focused on green development and collaboration with developers, architects, engineers, governmental agencies, manufacturers, and building owners engaged in sustainable projects. Details are available at: http://www.sevengroup.com/ His design work has been recognized by over 40 design awards, including 25 Awards for Design Excellence from the AIA; three Pennsylvania Governor's Awards for Environmental Excellence in 1998, 2001 & 2003; selection by AIA as one of their nationwide Earth Day 2000 Top Ten, and selection by the United States team to participate in the Green Building Challenge (GBC) at the Sustainable Building (SB) 2000 and 2002 conferences, held in Maastricht, The Netherlands, and Oslo, Norway. He also led the U.S. Team's GBTool assessment work at SB 2004 in Tokyo. Mr. Boecker taught Architectural Design and Sustainable Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University, Harrisburg Area Community College, University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard. He has lectured in 33 states throughout the U.S. and nine countries about green buildings. He authored the "LEED Services Profile" in the 2005 edition of the AIA Architect's Handbook for Professional Practice. John holds a B.S. degree in Architecture from Penn State and a Masters of Architecture degree from Yale University.
