Director of the Center since 1977, Brown serves on a number of professional, civic, and consumer organization boards, e.g., Consumer Federation of America, the National Consumers League, the Electronic Funds Transfer Association, the Planning Council of SE Wisconsin, the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud, and the Institute for Civil Justice of RAND Corporation. He has served as a designated representative of consumer interests in numerous legislative and administrative rule proceedings. He appoints and trains warranty dispute arbitrators for Ford Motor Company's national arbitration program. He provides expert witness testimony in a variety of consumer litigation cases. He holds a fellowship with the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association. He has conducted research for such major corporations as American Express and State Farm Insurance, as well as governmental agencies, among them, the United Nations and the Canadian government. He was a staff attorney with Milwaukee Legal Services, and holds a BA in Physics from Princeton and a JD from the University of Wisconsin Law School. |
